i would make it my life goal to get the knights of the round table together again. Plate armor does nothing against bullets and little against blunt melee weapons though. A Kevlar vest might stop a bullet, but won't stop a knife (so much so that I believe UK police wear stab vests now instead of bullet proof vests).
